In June of 2007, Coy received an Associate in Applied Sciences (AAS) degree from Spokane Falls Community College in chemical dependency counseling. He then worked 2500 plus hours as a counselor in the chemical dependency field at treatment centers such as Community Detox Services of Spokane, Pioneer Center East, and New Horizons in order to be eligible to sit for the Washington State chemical dependency examination. He passed that exam in 2009 and became a certified Chemical Dependency Professional Counselor. His Washington State certification number is CP60065645.
Continuing on with his education he received an Associate of Arts degree in 2008 from Spokane Falls Community College and a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Eastern Washington University in June 2010. Due to his remarkable grade point average, (3.99), Coy was accepted into the advanced standing graduate program for Social Work at Eastern Washington University and graduated Summa Cum Laude in June 2011 with a Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree.
After three years, four thousand hours, a thousand hours of one on one client interactions and one hundred and twenty hours of supervision, Coy was eligible to sit for the National Association of Social Workers examination in August of 2014. He passed exam and earned a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work (LICSW) designation.
In addition to his six years of instruction in institutions of higher learning, Coy has taken numerous trainings in a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI). He completed the basic training in August of 2010 for EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing). He has taken numerous additional advanced EMDR trainings and attended the 2012 EMDR national conference in Washington, DC. At this time he has well over 2500 hours of experience working with the EMDR therapeutic approach and was awarded the classification of EMDRIA Certified Therapist by the EMDR International Association. He is certified in Brain-spotting, another excellent therapeutic approach, and he is certified by Dr. Karyl McBride, author of “Will I Ever be Good Enough?” to work with people with narcissistic parents/partners using her five step recovery approach.
Over the years, Coy has assisted hundreds of clients. He has facilitated their release of self-destructive feelings and beliefs: feelings of not being good enough, feeling unlovable, feeling unsafe, feelings of self-hate, depression, anxiety, guilt, shame, anger, emptiness, panic, second guessing self, etc. Working through these feelings allows our natural state of happiness, joy and self-love to surface. By releasing these old beliefs you will experience a more happy, loving, open, enjoyable and satisfying life.
